Design Your 2011 SPG Member Card - Various related issues
The 2011 design your card experience is now live, and we wanted to give our FlyerTalk members first access to the site. Just visit SPG.com/mycard for a sneak peek.
Based on member feedback, we kept many of the features you loved like customizing your card back and downloading to a mobile device. New for 2011 are refreshed hotel photo options, like the new W Retreat & Spa Bali or the Westin Costa Navarino in Greece, and being able to "Like" your chosen hotel on Facebook.
This year we're excited that the design site is open to all SPG members regardless of whether you are up for renewal or not. However, some elite members who are up for renewal and could be potentially in downgrade tiers will receive a message telling them to come back in early March to design their card. We need to ensure that we are accounting for all late December stay postings before members are downgraded. Rest assured that in March you will have an opportunity to design your card if you wish.
Please note that if you've designed in the past you will automatically receive the same image you have on your card unless you design again. (Card back customization would not carry over for security reasons). Also for security reasons, parts of your full name and SPG member number will be blocked out on the site. The actual card you receive in the mail (or on your mobile device) will not have blocked information.

"Interesting" choice of properties: For Starwood the EAME region only consits of
the UAE: Three (!) properties

Question-
I picked the Westin Kierland last year and would be happy to have it again (we own a timeshare there). You stated that if we don't choose, they will use the same design as last year - fine. But if you don't choose a new one, it does not let you move on to the personalization, which you also stated will be deleted. Am I missing something or is there a way around this? Obviously not a major issue - I can choose something else. But if there is a way, would like to keep Kierland.

I received my (Paris) card in the fall with a 2012 expiration date. It's a lovely photo. Any reason I need a new one?
