Thanks to all for the solicited (and unsolicited) replies. Willie - have been fortunate to have dived (dove?) Stingray City a couple of times on previous visits, but you bet I'll do it again. It's been a long, long time.
Excited to hear that the Westin seems to be a nice place to shack, my past trips have usually been to the Sunset House. Any of you who have stayed there know what it's like NOT to be pampered. It's Hell's answer to the Heavenly Bed.
JJeffrey - I'm with you. There is nothing like the Caymans. Most beautiful beaches in the world.

During Memorial Day weekend this year, I was upgraded to a very nice ocean view room even before I checked in. I'm only a gold member and was using the UA 50% hotel coupon. Service was excellent.

I agree with the comments on the Caymans, definetely one of (if not the nicest) places in the world.

Westin Grand Cayman Question
I read through the other Grand Cayman postings, and just wanted to confirm something: Is the Westin located directly ON the beach or is it across the street?
I am making hotel arrangements for my Aunt. She says she has no budget; only the requirement that the hotel needs to physically touch the beach - her room doesn't need to touch the beach, but the hotel does. Thanks for your experience and input!

Looks pretty close to the beach/ocean from the photo and description on this web site:

Perhaps someone who has stayed there can confirm this.

All the pictures I've seen and everything that I've read shows it being on Seven-Mile-Beach. However, I haven't visited there. Have you been to their website?

I went there over MLK holiday two weeks ago, and I can confirm that it is indeed on the beach.

It is on the beach. A lot of places are "across the street" e.g. the Hyatt.

On the beach and highly recommended. IMHO, it's one of the nicest properties on the island.

I'm trying to help my brother and sister plan a MUCH needed getaway and I think they'd love this place - but I'm coming up w/ best rate of over $400 a night.. can any of you see anything better? They'd love to go in Feb - can go any day of the week - looking at 3/4 nights..
I appreciate any help.
If this is still in megabucks range - anyone have any other good options on the island?

Hotel location is on the best stretch of Seven Mile Beach. I consider it the best resort on the island. Used UA 50% coupons during our stay, also they upgraded us to oceanfront with SPG Platinum status. Car rental required as nothing is within walking distance.

I can confirm it is the best part of Seven Mile Beach and right on it. Nice pool area adjacent to beach and hotel.
There's a nice place to eat casually across the street as well as one of the funner night clubs on the island. And you can walk back.
The Hyatt is not exactly next door though, and in my opinion not nearly as nice to stay at.
All in all, a great beack resort.

svpii--You might want to check and see if you can use a 50% off certificate. I used one for this property over MLK day weekend a few weeks ago, which lowered the rate from $302 to $151 (rack was the only rate offered). I think January is considered shoulder season, so it may be harder to get over high season.

Westin Grand Cayman - Recent Comments Please
Urgent -
Checking into Grand Cayman Westin on Sun. 6/23 for about 8 days. I am PLT Preferred.
I see they have Oceanfront rooms available - am hoping for PLT upgrade.
If anyone has stayed there recently, could they please comment on their stay?
Is the sand as pure as I have heard? Is the water at the beach as clear as I have heard?
Any advice is most appreciated.
Thanks.
