A way to see suite availability
I've been frustrated in the past trying to assess suite availability from the SPG booking site for some properties, and I've read here that others have been similarly frustrated. Recently I had to make a booking via my phone, and discovered that the mobile version of the web site (I believe it's http://m.spg.com) seems to list suites much more routinely than is my experience on the standard web site.

Normally, using corp code is better to see suite availability showing most of inventories.. :)

I also use my corporate code to look for suites. I think it is really weird that doing a search without any code reveals no suites but putting in my code reveals 10+ suites.
Does this have anything to do with whether or not they are standard suites? Is there a way to find out what counts as a standard suite? |

Shouldn't a standard search show all available options?

Another way to see suite availability
The easiest way for me to see if there are suites available (to see if I might get a plat upgrade) is to change the number of rooms from 1 to 2 OR to change the number of adults to 4 or 5 OR a combination of both.
Just changing the number of adults to the max usually gets me to the suites...although I am not sure why. |

I would love to hear your reasoning for hiding this information. I'm sure Starwood hotels lose lots of revenue by not letting people see what's available.

it is sometimes more financially sound and feasible to simply take suites (sometimes even entire floors of a hotel) out of inventory than sell them for less than what it costs to maintain their occupancy.

i only book suites for maybe 10% of my total stays....using my set code or calling up spg does the trick but i wish the properties displayed all the rooms without any hassals....

Attaching them to SET codes allows a hotel to cater to the corporate market which may be booking more rooms, may be returning to that same hotel more frequently, or may simply have higher expectations and minimum standards.
I've also seen suites on the AAA rates when they don't show up on the standard rates. This has never made a lot of sense to me. Ultimately, the choice is up to each hotel. Obviously (?), there are wide variations among different properties since some properties have more suites than others and target markets vary (corporate, leisure, luxury, meetings/conventions, etc., or a combination of those). |

So you're saying that hotels will never publish any price for any suite to the public?...
