I'll add my vote to the Pulitzer in Amsterdam. The free breakfast for Platinums is very nice, and the second time we stayed there, the front desk remembered me from our first visit (addressed me by name before I handed him my credit card) and upgraded us to the Oceans Twelve suite.

We're a young couple just looking for a slow + luxurious holiday during Oct. Where would you pick if you were me? Tripadvisor, travelocity etc seem to give them similar grades.

Thanks in advance!

No question the Blue Palace. Search here for the master thread on the property for more.

I really love the Marques des Riscal in Elciego. The Castillo Hotel Son Vida in Mallorca is also excellent, but considering you are going in October, beach might not be prime season. The Marques des Riscal is really top-notch. Honeymoon-type place right on a vineyard, and as wine and great food are the biggest draws that's an ideal time of year. Should be great weather in Spain. You'll also be only 1-2 hours from San Sebastian and could do a night or two at the Maria Cristina, luxury collection hotel there.

Ah, I didn't look close enough to see the October part. The Greek properties are usually closed in October for the winter.

thanks stimpy and spainlover. The advice on staying @ San Sebastian before heading to Elciego sounds like a great idea - we might just take it up (and will have you to thank for)!

Also, the Elciego hotel is classified as a resort and you can use your free nights there from the current promotion!

Sheraton in Lisbon

I booked a 3 night stay for my wife after her conference was over in Lisbon few years ago. She still raves about this hotel whenever we go to another 5 star property:

"Lisbon - Sheraton, Incredible Design - ultra modern - almost like a W. Great buffet breakfast. Cool rooftop bar (indoor). Nice outdoor pool and gift for plats" (as mentioned by another poster about this hotel)

It's been a while since this thread has seen some light, and I'm looking at a trip to Europe next spring. With some recent renovations completed at properties across Europe, was wondering if anyone had updates...

St. Regis Florence has to be among the top SPG hotel in Europe after their complete renovation. This is an old world luxury hotel.
