Resort at Singer Island-12/31

Booked Intracoastal view room @ Florida Resident rate (approx. $80 below the internet pre-paid rate).

Was surprised and very pleased to be upgraded two categories to a full oceanfront suite, since this property's participation in the SPG program does not include room upgrades (because all rooms are already suites.)

Also received a beautiful fruit platter in the room upon arrival.

Sheraton Athlone (Ireland)
Booked classic non-smoking room with king-size bed
No upgrade . Got the same room I reserved. No offer of platinum benefit either.

UPDATE: On checkout, receptionist apologised (without me saying anything) for lack of plat benefit, also for no upgrade and no water or robes in room ... she said the manager had approved nearly 40% off my bill to make up for all that. An excellent outcome in my book.

Club Lounge was exceptional great. Room was dated and not very impressive.
I couldn't agree more. The lounge in Frankfurt is by far the most impressive I have come across...it is almost like being on full board, with a fully stocked bar. On dozens of stays I've never been upgraded to a Towers room, but Club room on most stays (which is a SPG room plus water and chocolate...), and once or twice a Jr suite. The service is great, and the staff is very friendly.

Interesting.... Did you contact CS or otherwise highlight the issue after check-in?

If not then I wonder if someone picked up on your post here.... Local SPG staff have a track record of active participation here on FT. Check out the Fota Island master thread. ^

Le Meridien Piccadilly

Upgrade from classic room to Exec suite on stay just before Christmas.

Not sure whether it is because I have stayed at this property on more than half a dozen occasions in 2008 but I am 100% for Exec suite upgrades on last 4 stays. ^

Westin LAX Airport. Upgraded to Terrace Suite before arrival, asked about amenity during check-in, but boy is this hotel looking tired and sorry. Time for an overhaul!

The 'work in progress' posters are on the same elevators and elevator panels as the last time I was here, a few months ago....so I guess that means no progress.

Le Méridien San Francisco

Last week, I got a 2 nights paid stay at this property on a discounted website rate. I was upgraded to a very nice studio suite with a nice view.
Very nice property and very great staff on my opinion.

Were the treats in addition to the customary 500 points? That would be an even nicer way to start it off.

Unfortunately not... but a nice amenity nonetheless!

Westin San Diego - Emerald Plaza

Stayed at the Westin Emerald Plaza as this was definitely the least expensive Starwood property in downtown San Diego. Despite paying a very low rate for the 'traditional room', was upgraded to a suite ^. I was leery after reading fairly low reviews, but the suite with the great bay views was definitely a plus. Very accomodating staff and very quiet (complaints about soundproofing in previous San Diego thread).

just returned from the Westin Rotterdam. Paid for a superior room, and received a Jr. Suite next to the club lounge

Great way to start of my newly gained Platinum membership
