Aloft or Joule when pregnant and attending convention in Dallas?
I'll be attending a 3-day event at the Dallas Convention Center in June. I'll be about 7.5 months pregnant by then. My husband will be there with me and is SPG Plat.
The Aloft hotel is the closest, and I hear they have some cool, giant suites. What are the chances of an upgrade to one of them?
The Joule would be a nice treat for us, but it's farther away. Would the car service be able to transport us each day, possibly twice a day to the Convention Center? What are the odds of a good upgrade there?
We'll likely use points either way, so price isn't really a concern.
I hear the Hyatt will be the official hotel for the event. I see it's on some sort of rail line that goes to the Convention Center. Would this make it significantly more convenient than Aloft?
Thanks in advance for any insight y'all can offer!

I would call the Joule to see about transportation to the convention and if there's any convenient way to get to the convention I would stay there. The Arkard stop on the dart(which I'm assuming is the rail line you're talking about) is about 2.5 blocks from the Joule so if the convention is on that line, it'll be very convenient.
The service at the aloft is terrible and it's in downtown, but not really by anything. It's more on the outskirts of downtown, so it's a further walk to all the downtown restaurants and shopping.
As a platinum I've been upgraded to a nice one bedroom suite, with separate living area/.5 bath on 3 out of my 4 stays there. The other time I was upgraded to a pretty large non-suite room. The only small rooms at this place are the round kings so as long as you stay away from that one, I think you'll be happy with the size.

Definitely the Joule. By far my favorite Luxury Collection Hotel in the Starwood system. They have a Cadillac Escalade in service most hours of the day. Ask or call the Joule and talk to one of their Ambassadors. Danielle has always been helpful with me in the past. One night they went out of their way and hired a towncar to shuttle people around as they did not have the staff to drive the Escalade. Platinum treatment is always exemplary at this hotel and you'll enjoy the whole atmosphere. Most times you will get a 1 BR suite. They also have 2 deluxe suites that are amazing! The deluxe suites are not standard suites to upgrade to but on my last stay there they offered it to me for a very small upgrade price as their standard suites were all booked. Being pregnant you'll appreciate the full service luxury hotel with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. YMMV may vary on that though. Their is a Neiman Marcus right next door and some dining options that are within walking distance including the outstanding Charlie Palmer Restaurant in the hotel. You will not be dissapointed if you stay there. Let me know if you any questions.

Thanks, everyone!
Aloft was appealing, since it's *directly* across from the Convention Center, but The Joule is less than half a mile away, so not bad.
The TripAdvisor reviews of the Hyatt are lukewarm -- and the room photos worse, so even though I'm sure it'll be the designated convention hotel with lots of activities happening there I'd rather stay for free at The Joule and car service/taxi between it as needed.
So it looks like we have a verdict! The Joule it is. I'll get a jump on the award reservation. This is an enormous convention, so I want to get our room set early.
Here's hoping I'll still be mobile enough to get to enjoy a Last Hurrah (for a while) in June!
