Any reports on evacuations from the 3 SPG properties along Kaanapali Beach?

I can't speak for the other guests and other properties ... but from what I heard from my parents, the staff at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa did an excellent job in communicating what they were doing to ensure everyone's safety. While I was certainly doing my own reserach to figure out what was going on, it was good to know that everything I was relaying had either already been told to them by the staff at the property or they knew about shortly after me informing them.

I must say, this yet again confirms that you should never travel anywhere without knowing you have a mobile phone that will work where you're going if it is at all possible.

My mother usually travels with a laptop, but instead only took her BlackBerry ... so in addition to phone capability I can send her info / links to get information, and she can send me pictures to make me jealous.

So a public thank you to the staff at the Westin, and an overall thanks to Starwood and its people for publishing information to keep us aware of the situation.

Oh yeah, thank you FlyerTalk for providing this venue ... I'll be honest, other than NOAA this was the first place I came to see what was going on.
