I received an email from American Express today regarding the card. In this message it notes that 8-10 weeks after your annual "reset date" the free night certificate will be posted. My reset date is August 1 and will post once I note the certificate is noted in my account.

He is not wrong. You/I and others are indeed getting a lot more points. The value per point is less than what we are getting now but we are indeed getting more points so no need to be snarky towards someone just doing his or her job.

Well, you and I read margarita girl's post differently.
I figured that the agent was trying to convey "more points!!" as a benefit when it's clearly not.

Actually, we are not getting more points.

Before, $1 spend = 1 Starpoint. 1 Starpoint = 3 MR Points.

Now: $1 spend = 2 Points.

However, we do have a better earning ratio in Canada since $1 CAD < $1 USD.

And all of your Starwood points are now three times more.

Does anybody know if the SPG Amex in Canada will give any nights credit toward status like the US cards do? The Marriott cardholders get 15 nights which is a heck of a boost. I thought I'd read somewhere that something would be coming for these cards.

This year it gives free silver status. There is a note in the letters we received that there will be a night benefit next year.

I suspect they didn't want to do it this year as previous Chase Marriott cardholders also got 15 nights.

My household did 2 apps last year and 2 apps early this year (75K x 4) + referral bonuses (15K x 4) = 360K.

This paid for a week in Maui and a week in NYC where hotels are over $500US a night. Over $10K CAD in value!!!

In addition, I got rollover night credits from Marriott PLUS 15 nights x 2 from the Chase Marriott card which allowed me to reach 50 nights Gold before August/18 - which means I'm now Plat!

It was a good year....

Anyone receive their free night certificate for renewing SPG card yet? I believe it said 8-10 weeks, but hoping it's earlier than this.

Anyone know when our August points from this card will post? Not surprisingly, they are already delayed. Hopefully Amex will be able to figure out our new Marriott numbers from our old SPG numbers and this will happen automatically...maybe?
