I don't get to start too many threads but I stumble upon this new property this morning while checking the progress of the W Bali.

Sheraton Bali Kuta

It looks like we will have another option on Kuta Beach. The picture looks a bit underwhelming and Kuta is not my fav place on Bali but then again, I can very well imagine the W and Sheraton being complimentary on this part of the island.

If you are given a choice between W Bali and Sheraton Bali, which one would you support?

Not a trick question.

Good Morning Thyetus,

Glad I am not Ms. JohnSIN this morning
I would support W Bali first.
I might be tempted to pay a visit when it opens and of course, in case of a required mattress run, it will be great to have 2 options in the Seminiak, Kuta area. Can hotel hop everyday.

I dont really care about the brand (even if its 4P) as long as its comfortable, but I would really like to see a Starwood property in Ubud. Hilton appears to be ahead with a Conrad planned there, and from what I heard it would be quite spectacular.

I too, would like to see Sheraton/Westin in Ubud. Visited in 2008 and it was truly the most serene and magical place. It's a world away from hussle and bustle of Kuta.

Just walked by the construction zone earlier today. It would be a miracle if this place opens sometime in 2012.

problem with building in Ubud...

....is that all the build-up will make it allot less serene.

When do you think this hotel will "actually" be open ?
What are the prospects of it being open by Nov 2012 ?

Moderator - Please put this property in the Starwood properties master thread.

Usually, they don't do this until the first official stay report has been filed.

Does anybody have any information on whether this property will be open on 01Sep12? We're planning a trip for October and are trying to determine our options for Starwood redemption.

Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort's web site is stating that the resort is accepting group inquiries but not individual reservations.
  1. Does that mean that the resort will open on or about 01 September 2012, even if a soft opening?
  2. When does a new property start taking individual reservations?

I don't believe there is any view from Club at the Legian, the W Bali has some of the most spectacular view in Bali (apart from the remote cliff side resorts). What I dont like about the W is the lack of Balinese influence in the design, you could be anywhere in the world ...
