not just for 'comped' or newed spg members
I just received the offer, and I only qualified for gold this year because of SPG AMEX spend last year. Also, to note, I am not going to qualify as Gold next year, as I haven't been working and therefore not travelling, and don't have the qualified spend via AMEX. And yet I still got the email... though a day later than most, not sure what that means!

OK, it looks good and i want to leave on my luggage. I would be embarrassed if it is one those cheap plastic luggage tag that everyone is giving away at any train station.

I signed up, inputted my address for this nice offer. However, even though the screen said I would get a confirmation email, I did not.
For the past year I have received all email ads and confirmations for reservations. I did not, and do not, get promo confirmations. Oh well.

One note on the last set of tags. The buckle on the leather strap wasn't that great, so my tags fell off and were lost in a few weeks. I'm still using the Taj Majal plastic SPG tags (5 time Freddy winner, I think), with the metal screw-type fastener. The tag is about snapped in half by now, but the strap isn't going anywhere!
