*A-G Lounge access at ARN?
 

I am travelling on a UA ticket SAN-LAX-LHR-ARN, as a UA 1P member, I have Star Alliance Gold equivalence; what does that get me into at LHR and ARN?

also do *Gs get any boarding preferences on SAS?

No boarding difference hardly ever in Scandinavia in general.

At LHR, you can use the The London Lounge (SK and AC), the Singapore Airline Business lounge and there is one more but I never go there. If you are in M, then pick some bottles of water from the SQ lounge as SK is BOB in M.

At ARN, as a departure airport, SK lounge where you can use the Scandinavian Lounge, which has better alcohol and somewhat better food.

*G get nothing from SK on board - in fact I always seem to end up in a row of 3 even when there are spare seats around :td:

Personally I don't like the SK lounge at ARN - food is ok, drinks selection is poor and it's very crowded (plus miles away from the gates for UK flights). There is however free wifi in both lounges.

Compared to RCC lounges the T3 :-: and the ARN Scandanavian lounge are all excellent. Free alcohol, salads, breads and soup in the London Lounge, SQ has some hot food (depending on the time of day) and is usually quieter than the London Lounge (unless there's an A380 about to board). All also have pretty good selections of papers and mags. I actually really like the ARN Scandanavian too, never found it overly busy unlike the London lounge and the free wifi works well too. SK flights are a free for all when boarding, make sure you are not last if you've carry on case/s as you will struggle to fit them in the overheads if its busy (which the ones I've been on usually are). On returning from ARN to LHR you do have to give yourself a few minutes to get to the gate as you pass through passport control.

that's a true bummer about the absence of boarding privileges, even UA lets :-: board early on; too much to hope for that the members would actually have some consistent policies...

I don't recall the ARN lounge (but will get the opportunity twice this fall), but I was just in the SK lounge in CPH. Somewhat better than a RCC (I didn't use the wifi, but they have plenty of computers--all Macs). The food consisted of cookies, some rather fatty cold cuts, and cheese (if you get there early enough, you will get cheese that you cut, otherwise the processed stuff). Didn't see any salad either of the two times I was there (both in the a.m.). And the SK flight from CPH to FRA only had BOB even though it was 2 hours. And 25% mileage for a W fare. :(:(

The ARN lounge is nearly always crowded. There is generally one food dish, if you call herring food -- Nordics do! I'd say the lounge overall is OK but not spectacular. It is a LONG way from any flight that is to an place outside the Schengen visa area, not just UA.

The ARN lounge(s) are only crowded at limited times of the day/week/year; most other times they have more than enough place to find a seat or even get on one of the handful of computers around if not using the free wifi login+password of SAS and ARN. It's only on very rare occasions that I have been unable to find a seat in the *Gold side of the lounge I use when flying SK on ARN-LHR.
