ORD *A lounge?

I'm heading to PEK next Friday via ORD. Any opinions on which *A lounge best for *A gold access?
Thanks.

Which airline/class?

Must be UA if you're flying ORD-PEK nonstop.

If that's true, your only option will be one of the 4 United Red Carpet Club lounge. There is a newer lounge near B18 as well as the "main" club near C16.
The other two are not worth visiting.

Honestly, I would just pick whichever one is closest to your gate.

Travelling coach on UA but I'm *Alliance gold. I thought that I read somewhere that there was an SAS lounge that was better than the RCC. Thanks.

According to the 2007 *A reference guide there are indeed LX and SK lounges --are they for arrivals only (the map says they're in "Terminal 5: All International Arrivals"), or does another FTer have the skinny on them?

The SK lounge is a regular *G lounge. They have some cold cuts, complimentary bar service, no restrooms, free wifi and computers.

Sorry, let me clear up some confusion since this is my home airport.

The SK lounge referenced is in Terminal 5 which is the international terminal. It can only be used for departures on *A alliance flights OTHER THAN LH and UA.

The reason is that all UA and LH flights depart from Terminal 1. T5 and T1 are NOT connected airside and they are quite a distance apart.

Since the OP is departing on a UA flight, he/she will ONLY be able to use one of the United Red Carpet Clubs. Any of them are available to *A Gold members on an intnl trip.

Need to clarify one thing here: All international arrivals DO come into T5, however the LX and SK lounges are not available for arriving passengers. Only departing passengers, and only on *A airlines that use T5.

Seconded. I have only ever gone through ORD domestically (yes, to/from YWG is de facto --and because the clearancs are all done in YWG, de jure-- domestic), so all of this info is new to me as well.
