Pre-selecting seats on code share carrier
I booked an economy ticket on Air Canada's site. I'm flying from MXP, connecting in FRA to hop another plane going to YYZ. I'll be on Air Canada's codeshare partner Lufthansa when traveling to FRA and YYZ. I am not able to particularly choose a seat on the flights on route to FRA and YYZ. It says that it's not available at this time. I can't stand sitting in the middle and I prefer an aisle seat. Is there way, other than showing up at the airport super early, so I can pre-select a seat on the the Lufthansa flights?
thanks, |
I believe the only way to preselect a seat on code share flights operated by LH is to call them.

Likewise, I'm using a *A award and booked via UA. I'm flying UA, TG, and NH. UA was only able to confirm my UA seats.
UA agent said I won't get seats on those flights until I show up at the airport, but I can try by calling the airlines directly. |
LH does not do seat assignments for shorthaul flights within 4 hours.
|
As a follow-up, I called each airline directly and was able to reserve my seats.

Can't reserve seats on LH within Europe
In case anyone else stumbles upon this thread...
Lufthansa does not currently accept seat assignments (at least from Star Alliance partner tickets) within Europe. From USA to Europe or vice versa, you will be able to reserve seats... |
