Europe Airpass -- Booking class?

United tells me that it is Q class, which is a big problem especially with SK.

However, I called SK and they told me Q class is only for BD whereas LH and SK still use H class. My flights involve BD, LH and SK.

The problem is in convincing SK to issue it since I am flying UA to LHR. I have been successful in the past, esp when most flights are on SK. Dealing with UA on this is a nightmare. They don't seem to have live access to SK's booking data.

Used to be a mix, but the rules changed in late 2008. All carriers now definitely book in Q class. The following is a cut and paste from the latest release effective for sales from 15MAR09.

BD Q

LH Q
LO Q
LX Q

Thanks. I am shocked that UA is correct.

p.s. I used the *A website tool to set up the flights and I dodged the request for transatlantic PNR because I haven't booked it yet. At the end they gave me the option to book the ticket with BD, LH, or SK.

I selected SK and within 2 hours I got an email from SK with a confirmed itin!

I am impressed!

Today LH agent after long search tells me it's M-class. Did it change lately?
Why can't they display it in the T&Cs on *star site?

It is highly unlikely that it went up to M class. In LH parlance (also SAS), M class refers to economy.

Proof of Residency

Just for interest:

Rule 1. Egillibilty requires: Star Alliance Europe Airpass fare is available for residents of a country outside Europe in connection with travel
to/from Europe.

According to this definition: How is residency in a country outside Europe approved: ID-card, any address outside of Europe without a detailed proof of length of stay, ...?

Is it sufficient to show a ticket e.g. US - EU - US to qualify for this kind of ticket?

Regards

No residency proof is needed as long as you are holding a ticket originating from a non EU country.
