Does anyone know whether *A has a system of knowing if a person has joined a multiple number of FFP from different airlines within the same alliance?

I can't imagine they would know or even care. Star Alliance is really just a marketing organization.

Not a clue, but I'm not alone in having a few *G statuses - I share my *A travel credits around to arbitrage the earning and burning opportunities, and to maximise status benefits (flying airline with their own status).
