FRA-SIN redemption

What do you guys think is better:
SQ- 744
LH-744
Hoping both might change to 77W;)

Could do it in either J or F.

So, if I do in J which is a better product right now (lie-flat seats etc.)?
IF the change happens which will be better then?

If you can get SQ F now, then it would be a much better product whether it switches to 77W or not.

Also, in J, SQ is much, much better even on the 747. If it switches to 77W, SQ J will be dangerously close to LH F in many respects.

In short, go with SQ if there is availability.

Thanks for the reply STARGOLD.

So, you are saying if I go in J, it is best because if nothing changes, it is still better than LH J and less miles than travelling in F ?

What is the diff in SQ J and SQ F on 744?

I have read here in various forums that SQ has a high probability of changing 744 to &&W on FRA-SIN, right?
But what about the chances of LH changing planes?

LH gets better in F if it goes from a 747 to an Airbus, because the A340's have solo seats in F whilst the 747 is 2x2 upstairs. If you are travelling alone you may want to ignore LH F for this reason. LH F seat is fully flat and the food is excellent, but the real benefit is the lounge at Frankfurt which is superb, assuming you have time to spend there, which includes a chauffeur service to your plane.

In your situation i would book SQ J now in the hope that it may change to 77W. If it doesnt then i would check closer to the departure date if there is F available on the flight and simply pay the £20 change fee (plus extra miles+cash) to upgrade to F

Can I downgrade myself at a later date and get the refund (cash+miles) less change fees.
It is because I would like to get the booking in F before the 1 May deadline kicks in.

Why would you want to downgrade from F to J?

Agreed. No way I'd ever downgrade from SQ F to SQ J or LH F to LH J.

Remember that LX is another option which will be a longer journey with more connections but very nice (and better than LH in many ways). If flying FRA-ZRH-BKK-SIN then you get FCT at FRA, the FCL at ZRH, very high quality seats on the long sector and also excellent food/service. Plus, you can do cash & miles on LX F.

What I meant was that if I book into F and there is no equipment change, then I can go down to travelling in J. The idea is to experience the new planes but if it is not possible, then it is better to travel in J, as you can do C+M on J.

Sorry, I should have prob been more elaborate.

Isn't that a very Looong route for the ICC redemption purposes?

Is the chauffeur service only for long-haul?

How do the seats on LX F compare to LH 744?

Ok, this is the itin I have in mind:

BCN-ZRH-FRA LX J
FRA-SIN LX F
SIN-AMD SQ J/F

Is this poss on a Z2-Z10 redemption on Cash+miles?

I was looking at RT ticket for avoidingthe HIGH Indian taxes but I think going by the advise here I will book a sinle trip to AMD and on the way back I will work out some other routing........another task for later:rolleyes:

Not sure they will allow BCN-ZRH-FRA if there is a direct option available for BCN-FRA, especially in the context of so many legs. Not saying they won't allow it, but just be prepared that they might not.

Similarly, the *A timetable doesn't show European to AMD flights. You may again end up with some fights with the ICC to route via SIN, although in reality it isn't any different to MLE for example.

Finally, presume you mean LH F for FRA-SIN?

BCN-FRA is fine (was trying to avoid as much interllining as possible).
FRA-SIN will actually be FRA-ZRH-SIN on LX F (C+M)

So,
BCN-FRA-ZRH-BKK-SIN-AMD.......
Seems a looong route :(

Why make things so complicated? You really are going to have to learn to think outside the box.

For the amount taxes that routing would incur, a simple one connection award from Europe to BOM/DEL etc. plus a paid domestic flight to AMD will no doubt be the same price, more likely cheaper and a darn sight quicker.
