Help - AKL-TPE using points
 

Hi, need a bit of help figuring out the best way to get from AKL-TPE and back (need to stop in HKG too) in business class for two people.

At the moment I've got approx...
$2500 NZ airbucks (and 2 comp upgrades)
300,000 SQ miles
300,000 CX miles

I've decided this year I'm determined to use them as they just seem to build up and are hard to get rid of.

Looking at travelling AKL-TPE end of Sept (around 25th) and back two weeks later. Need 1 week in TPE and then the remainder in HKG. Don't mind a stopover in Singapore either as timing is flexible so an extra day or two wouldn't hurt.

Any suggestions welcome, I've given myself a headache going through the different options!

If you want to use the airbucks & NZ u/g your only choice is NZ via HKG. With that low amount of airbucks you'd be looking at economy fare and upgrade for one person (comp u/g to premium economy & airbucks to business on standby). Then try redeem SQ on the same flights.

Rather inefficient though. You could do paid fare AKL-TPE (not sure which airline NZ uses HKG-TPE) or just AKL-HKG. On SQ award you will need to buy HKG-TPE seperately unless TG still flies the route.

Krisflyer is currently having a 25% discount on redemptions, 300000 is more than enough for 2 on J from AKL-HKG (1 free stopover in SIN). Use the CX miles for HKG-TPE.

Will look at the SQ route as well. I see I can do AKL-TPE for the same pts as AKL-HKG so just need to figure out if doing 2 one way routes (with CX TPE-HKG) is cheaper than AKL-HKG rtn on SQ and then CX HKG-TPE rtn.
