SIN-SCL on *A
How to travel *A from Singapore to Santiago with minimum change?
I find that the SIN-SYD-AKL-SCL is partly *A, any flights other than LAN? Westbound is better with SWISS LX 183/LX 96: SIN-ZRH-SCL, but unfortunately I need to originate the route eastwards! |
There are a few options eastbound:
SIN-EWR-YYZ-SCL SIN-PEK-YYZ-SCL SIN-PVG-YYZ-SCL SIN-HKG-YYZ-SCL SIN-NRT-YYZ-SCL SIN-ICN-YYZ-SCL Welcome to FT^ You can download the *A timetable here that allows you to see all routings between cities. A fantastic tool to have! |

If / when there is a direct South Pacific crossing on *A, RTWs will be possible without having to transit North America (or Europe, for that matter). That's (one reason) why many people are hoping for a decent S. American member sooner rather than later.
cheers, Henry There have been rumours of NZ flying to South America, but with high fuel prices and the extra capacity from Qantas later in the year, I'd guess it is unlikely in the short term. |
Well, if LAN were to join *A... (I'd love to book an award to Easter Island.)
|
BTW, srnalla, welcome to FlyerTalk!
|
Something a little different...
SIN-JNB-GRU (SQ/SA), overnight transit, GRU-SCL (LX). But certainly not eastbound. :-( |

That's unlikely to make a difference. Only LAN and Aerolineas Argentinas fly trans-south-pacific, plus Qantas starting in November 2008.
And speaking of Qantas ... isn't there an SA codeshare (i.e., 7700-7701, JNB<->SYD) on QF metal that is allowed on *A RTWs? By that token, depending on (a) where in S. Am. Qantas eventually goes and (b) who the eventual S. Am. *A partner is ... maybe we'll get lucky. cheers, Henry |

You're probably right of course but, still, we can always hope. :)

Thanks for the welcome!
The *A timetable is indeed a fantastic tool... I see S.America well covered by OneWorld... hope *A pitches in soon. |

Is that right???? I've been avoiding *RTWs partly for the need to fly through SE Asia to get between SA and Aus.
cheers, Henry |
