I have updated the Star Silver Comparison Chart with Ethiopian Sheba Miles Silver Status and uploaded the updated chart on my homepage.
As usual, let me know if anything is wrong. Thank you |

Thanks for that - I noticed the Ethiopian update. However, I still didn't know if it was a recent update (need to get brain in gear:eek:) because your note about the update doesn't say which year. It would be helpful if you could add that, thanks.
But I will add a date at the page at the next update - which will be the elimination of Spanair. |

fee on 2nd checked bag? (Int'l itn, *Silver)
I am confused...If I am a Star Alliance Silver (UMP Silver-2P) on an PDX-SFO-HKG iterary (all UA) with 2 checked bags each way, do I need to pay the 2nd bag fee?
Based on United website for international iteraries, *Silvers allowed 1 checked bag free and on international iteraries the first checked bag are free. ------------ what happens if I am *Silver on PDX-SEA-ICN-HKG iterary? (with UA operating for PDX-SEA and OZ operating for SEA-ICN-HKG) OZ still maintains 2 free checked bags for their international iteraries. |
US elites get COS status miles bonus when flying US flights on US metal, currently 50%
Edit: Also, domestic upgrades from Y/B are available at the time of booking. |
I have updated the chart with a few things.
It was done a bit in a hurry as I wanted to add everything mentioned in the thread but have to consinder the format as well. Hopefully I am able to do a bigger update in the near future. |
can someone confirm i'm reading the first page's chart correctly: Star alliance silver members will be able to choose Economy plus seats on United AIrlines, and have priority boarding? but not priority check in?

United Silver, how do you claim Star Alliance benefits on other airlines
I'm about to cross over to United Silver status.
If I book a ticket through US Aiways, will it pick up my status via my FF # ?? I had a gate agent today tell me that it would show Star Alliance Silver on my boarding pass, but I'm trying to figure out just how it would know... or if she was just yes'ing me. |

Worst case scenario, you can show a card to get the perks, such as free checked bag, priority screening, and priority boarding. |

Edit: Also, domestic upgrades from Y/B are available at the time of booking. US Elites also earn 500 mile minimums and an elite status RDM bonus (Silver - 25%, Gold - 50%, Platinum 75%, Chairman's - 100%) on AC, LH, UA and I believe LX. |

As long as you're *S, then when you input your FF#, the system will automatically know that you are *S. Just note - it can take some time from the moment you become *S until UA will update that in their computer (2-3 days), and then some more time (7-10 days) until all *A partners systems are updated.
Worst case scenario, you can show a card to get the perks, such as free checked bag, priority screening, and priority boarding. |
USAir to OW, what happens to * Silver balance?
Curious as to what people think will happen to our *Alliance points balance after USAir/(AA) moves to OW? Some of my miles were accrued via other *Alliance carriers.
