Which *A partner is best for me?

I am presently 1K with UA but think it is time for me to diversify my mileage portfolio.

I am a US citizen and fly primarily domestic US with the occassional trip to Canada or Mexico. Once or twice a year I use my miles for trips overseas.

Which *A partner is regarded as being financially stable as well as ideal for someone with my demographics?

Thanks for your opinion/suggestion!

BD has a great earn/spend ratio and give 100% miles on all flights with US/UA/AC, 1700 points on hertz rentals, 1000 points on hilton stays. You can fly across the pond in first class for 50 000 miles+680$+tax. Currently they have a promo to become blue+ and 9000 points the moment you join and credit a flight to the programme before July 31.

Financial future worst case scenario is that they get absorbed by LH and the FFP merged into M&M

I signed up for a BMI account when the initial 9,000 mile offer started so I'm off to a good start. ^

It's useful to be in the FFP program of your home country. I'm gold with TG for example. But once that filled up (and by filled up, I mean where I can't re-qualify for 3 years, so may as well put my points into another program with higher miles-per-flight) I too went with BD.

Just redeemed my first BD miles award on an LH/OS ticket KWI-FRA-INN return. Really good value (I happened to choose miles + cash, as I could trade 20,000 miles for 140 pounds instead). Not quite sure how BD makes money from me - I fly on TG and will redeem on LH, OS and SQ primarily. It's conceivable I may never set foor on a BD plane. But program-wise, can't fault it ^^

Using 45k+cash to fly ARN-FRA-CCU-FRA-SZG next month in F on LH/OS. :D All miles earned the hard way flying UA/US/AC eco in north america :( and plenty of hertz and hilton miles. ^^^ to BD!

End of next week I'm flying DTW-ORD-MSP vv on UA, staying at a Hilton and renting a car: 2400+600+1000+1700 BD points. :)
