*A lounge in BKK

Flying BKK-SIN-LAX on an award ticket, bus. class, on SQ next week. Which lounge(s) should I look to spend my time in before leaving BKK. It's been over a year since using BKK lounges and don't remember, other than it being a TG lounge, which one I enjoyed at the time.

Not saying I'm married to a TG lounge, but just looking for the best available.

My *G has lapsed unfortunately (for only a few more weeks!!!) but that shouldn't matter because of the business award ticket.

The TG lounges are the only *A lounges at BKK other than I heard UA sometimes contracts to use the CIP lounges. I prefer the TG lounges on concourse C and E (two on each concourse). The one on concourse D is larger but usually more crowded and doesn't have showers. The food does seem to be replenished faster though on that one compared to the smaller lounges.

So ANA F and C pax use the TG F and C lounges, respectively?

Yes. The only *A lounges at BKK are TG lounges.

Enjoy the TG lounges, they're very good.

I never heard the thing about UA before.....pretty sure they refer everyone to the TG lounges.

Special announcement
United Red Carpet Club customers are invited to use the Louis' Tavern lounges in the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. The lounges are located on the third floor of concourse A, F and G.

Not sure why any UA customers would want to use them over the TG lounges though as I heard they're not very good.

last night i flew out of BKK on TK in Y.
at CI they gave me a invitation for that Louis Tavern lounge since i am *G. I went there to check it out, but it does not even come anywhere near one of the many nice TG lounges...

However, I saw also signs of UA and OZ there, leading to the suspision they also use those contract lounges. And I really wondered why would a *A member airline not use the lounges of their partner airline at their major hub (with plenty of capacity usually). Do they have to pay less?

in the end, i just went to the TG lounge anyway. Will there be 2 charges now to  (who actually pays for my lounge visit? the operating carrier or the airline where i hold gold status?)

Even though UA and OZ might direct you to the contract lounge, you can always use the TG lounges based on your credentials (F BP = F lounge, C BP or *G = C lounge) so I wouldn't bother with the contract lounge.

SQ also has a lounge now at Survanabhumi in BKK!

sorry, if I wrote it unclear. I knew that you could always use the TG lounge as you say, but i was just wondering why TK/OZ/UA have that deal with the contract lounge? -and hoping somebody here might know more...

FWIW, SK also have their own lounge at BKK but it is not *G.

Is it worth to visit the SQ lounge instead of the TG lounge ?

Probably because the Louis Tavern lounge charges less per passenger than the TG lounge. OZ/UA/TK all have to pay TG for each person that enters the TG lounge, so if the Louis Tavern lounge is cheaper than the TG lounges it would be more profitable for those airlines to guide the passengers to the cheaper lounge.

I would say that most people don't necessarily realise they could always use the Star lounges as per access rules, and simply go to the lounge that is shown on the lounge invitation. FTers who know all the access rules etc are relatively a minority.
