help? first time points user and having difficulty
help anyone...
i have 170k *A points and i have never used a free ticket in my life. i am trying to book a flight for my GF and i to Phuket in Dec 2008, but my regular airline says there are no flights available with points. i am a *G earner and this crap happens (sorry...soooo freakin frustrated with US Air)... is there anyway to get the flight i want? or should i just give up. (though i can't believe i am looking for flights in Dec 2008 and there are no flights)... help...help...help... |
It'd be a bit easier to help you if you gave a few more details, like what route are you flying and when? Also are you looking to fly in Biz class or Econo class?

i have done Y awards to BKK before from LAX using UA miles... With a stopover in ICN. I bought the RT BKK to HKT for about $50 USD on 1 2 go airlines. There are tons of LCC from BKK that will take you down to HKT. If you can't get availability to HKT, definitely try BKK or SIN.
My routing was LAX-SIN (SQ nonstop) SIN-BKK (SQ) BKK-HKT (12go) HKT-BKK (12go) BKK-ICN (TG) ICN-SFO (SQ) SFO-LAX (UA). With a little creativity and flexibility, Y awards to asia are not hard to come by. You have to be creative overwater segment. If you're starting out in DC, look in to all the major jump off points... IAD, ORD, SFO, LAX, SEA, YYZ and YVR ... to all the major *A connecting points... NRT, ICN, SIN and BKK. Ask the agent to look at all possible segments and they might even have to break it down.. segment by segment. PM me if you have questions... |
