Valid Init before I book?

Before I attempt to book this Itin, does anyone see anything wrong with the 29K RTW trip fare?

It appears valid to the Trip Calc, so I will be booking it within the nect week.

BTW I'm not looking at changes, just the Itin.

Good luck. Some people have reported experiences where the *A RTWMC gives one distance but when you try to book it the rate desk has a different calculation. If that should happen (since you are so tight under the 29K limit), remember that you can always approach a different company (so long as they have at least one flight in your itinerary) and ask them to figure it. Of course, in your case that might be problematic, since the whole trip appears to be on only three carriers (and does LH even have an actual presence in Oz?).

cheers,

Henry

Yes I did book heavy metal mainly for the reason of UA points from another person for an upgrade.

I do have a 2nd backout option. 28771 Miles, which will save me money as I don't need to spend time in LHR. But this reduces the miles earned.

Yes, LH has a city office in SYD.

Indeed GCM reports 29,007 miles.

Just be aware that you can liberate 2000 miles by ending the itinerary in Perth instead, and picking up a separate ticket PER-MEL on Qantas.

Or if you both start and end somewhere closer to SIN, eg PER, it will reduce the STAR-ticket mileage below 26,000 and to a lower price level.

Why PER? Yes you could save even more miles by using Cairns or Darwin as jumping-off points. And if you're only concerned to save a few miles, you could start or finish in SYD (shock, horror) and get a separate ticket to MEL.

But the schedules between PER and Europe are better. SQ has a daytime flight PER-FRA departing 7.45am arriving 8pm. And coming back you leave Frankfurt 10pm and land in Perth at midnight, and sleep in a bed rather than get on that second successive red-eye SIN-MEL.

Except the OP is talking about an RTW ticket. No RTW I know of allows both a PER-FRA and a FRA-PER on the same routing. :)

cheers,

Henry
