Question on *A Awards

Are the *A awards only available for round trips or do they allow for one-way travel too?

Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as a '*A award'. Each of the FFPs has its own rules so you'll need to look at the programme whose points you are spending. I believe that some do allow one-way awards but I think most do not.

Most FFPs allow one way, but you still pay the same mileage as for a return. For those that don't, you simply need to make a booking for a return and simply not fly the second (return) sector (which amountst to the same thing).

Remember, airlines want you to burn miles earlier rather than later since miles form a liability on the books. Allowing one way awards (other than at the same cost as a return) makes little business sense to them.

Air Canada DOES allow one way rewards and charges 50% of the return (at least they did as of my last interaction a few months ago) reward.

AC only allows one-way award travel for AC Aeroplan members redeeming for flights on AC metal only. You can not book a one way AC award ticket for reduced mileage using any *A carriers.

*A one way awards post #4 lists which *A FFPs have one way awards. (Link found in the sticky *A useful reference links.)
