Interesting. I have never seen a ticket with 32K. Usually it's 20K, 30K, or 40K for weight concept flights and PC for piece concept flights. That's what makes us TAs mad: our computer systems can't distinguish between PC = 2 x 32K and PC = 2 x 23K. I never know what to tell my clients when they ask me that question. How could I possibly fit all the info into my head which airline changes their concept on which date? Good to have this thread at hand, then. :)

Anyway if the ticket has a baggage limit listed on it, shouldn't that apply since that's what they bought with their hard earned (just looking at the last e-ticket I have it has 32K on it)?

just a thought

Good point re what is stated on the ticket! I just checked and the ticket did say 20kg - so I guess the statement by NZ that I had been "lucky" on the previous segments was accurate.

I can confirm, that NZ is VERY strict nowadays. We had 57kg as two *G and she recalculated it three times to be sure we are fine.

Well, for RTW fares it's now in the rules - 2PC applies with most Star carriers allowing 23KG max per piece - for Y cabin travel.
