GRU to MAD using miles
 

I want to use my miles to get from GRU to MAD in October 2006 and would like advise on whether to use Varig or TAP in Y. Also, are there any other option besides these 2 airlines.

You can also route through FRA with Lufthansa or Zurich with SWISS. None of these airlines are great in Y but if I had to choose I would suggest one of the following two:

1) SWISS through Zurich on their A340.
2) Varig to FRA on the 777 and LH to MAD (I can't believe I would suggest this given all of the troubles Varig causes me but their 777 does give a good experience).

If you really want to go the long way you might, depending which FF program you are using and your citizenship/visa status, be able to go through the US on United or Varig and then over the Atlantic with LH/SK/US/UA/TP to a European hub, finally hopping from their over to MAD.
