Best *Alliance point system

We flew Austrian SYD-VIE-INN because they gave the most direct routing & shortest flight to our destination.
Our T/A signed us up for the Lufthansa point scheme.
What's the best Star Alliance scheme to maximise points & how do we transfer points?

I'm going to move this to the *A forum as the question is not SQ specific.

It's there already
Isn't the SQ Kris frequent flyer program worth recommending?

Well you will first be told that cross-posting is not allowed. Then you will be told that the 'best' program for you depends on how you fly - class, carriers. Thirdly, if you made a LH M&M number and you got miles for the trip already, I don't know if that can be 'undone'.

It cannot be undone and the points cannot be transferred in any way that would be worth it.

Generally, the decision on the scheme depends on your flying pattern. There are no general rules.

Yeah, I second this. It`s an individual decision based on the classes and metal you fly. If you're just wanna have status AC and BD are quite okay but...

Have a look at BlondeBomber's comparision chart in the *A Useful Reference Links sticky.

Cheers

If you fly mostly business or first class, LH Miles and More is the way to go. If you fly economy class a lot, I think UA's Mileage Plus would be better as they give miles for most economy booking classes. Besides that, its really a personal preference and where you live. If you live in a country with a dominant star alliance carrier, you might want to join their program, as they might have other earning oppurtunities, like through credit cards, etc.

Thanks tfung.
That makes things much clearer.
