*A RTW For 3500 USD ?

I just got the follwoing price

Mumbai - London Virgin Atlantic
London - Los Angeles Virgin Atlantic
Los Angeles - Singapore Singapore Airlines
Singapore - Mumbai Singapore Airlines

For 150K INR (Around 3.5K USD).

I thought i had to buy the 29K Miles RTW for around 4.2K USD. Any one know why this is less.

Your RTW is less than 22k, so you would qualify for the cheapest rtw (26k i believe)

4 segment path: 21148 mi
BOM (19°05'19"N 72°52'05"E) LHR (51°28'39"N 00°27'41"W) 4487 mi
LHR (51°28'39"N 00°27'41"W) LAX (33°56'33"N 118°24'29"W) 5456 mi
LAX (33°56'33"N 118°24'29"W) SIN (01°21'01"N 103°59'40"E) 8770 mi
SIN (01°21'01"N 103°59'40"E) BOM (19°05'19"N 72°52'05"E) 2436 mi

Hmm...I thought RTW on Business class started at 29K for *A

That's not a *A RTW (as it includes Virgin Atlantic). Many airlines pair up and provide their own RTW offerings, sometimes for much less than an alliance RTW - but may have different restrictions (on top of only valid on certain airlines).

SQ, VS, and NZ have offered the "Escapade" RTW, which can be quite cheap compared to other alliance plans. It used to be on the SQ US website, but it's been taken down, so I don't know if it's still available. SQ also has its own RTW program, and probably still has (at least) a two-carrier plan with VS.

United and Emirates also have a very affordable biz class RTW, provided you like DXB.

It does for the standard *A RTW. Only economy has the "lite" option at 26k (also some rule differences).

PS Your OP wasnt clear that you are referring to business class.

Hmmmm..... 29K exBKK is US4900. Business *A RTW. What RTW ticket combines UA and Emirates?

oopsz Sep 25, 2005 10:17 pm

The "UA Emirates" RTW ticket. You can only use UA and emirates. it's pretty straightforward like that. It's like the "SQ Virgin" RTW, where you can only use SQ and Virgin.

I have just finished my 2nd UA/EK RTW and start my 3rd tommorrow.... I did 1 North Pacific variant and now doing South Pacific variants. Have upgraded ALL UA sectors to F with SWU's, etc and EK are flying the new A340-500 BKK-SYD now so, that with with extra sidetrips allowed out of Dubai makes this a NICE RTW fare.... I used to do *A RTW's eavery 2 to 3 months ex-BKK but retired and now it's my dime, so this is better

Unless something has changed in the last few days, your BKK-SYD EK leg will be in a 773-ER, not A345.

I just started my first UA-EK RTW trip (best deal on the planet) yesterday, and will be taking the second segment of the SYD-BKK-DXB 773-ER in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to my first time on EK F, even if it is not the A345 suite.

Can the information about the UK/EK ticket be found somewhere online?

Regards,
