LY to Join *A

Already have a codeshare with SR, now owned by LH. Could it be possible to have LY join *A? I know they have codeshares w/ AA and DL as well. I would like to see LY join it.

If I may use same logic as yours, VS(partner of BD, SQ, NH) MX(LH, SK) QR(LH, NH) CA(UA, LH, NH) can join *A as well. Even QF(SK, US) can join *A!

Codeshare is a very common in today's airline business. It doesn't mean one airlines may join an alliance because of it.

Couldn't be any further off the mark, this is actually not possible/feasible. Codeshare yes, alliance no.

The thread title is very misleading.

Absolutely. If I use that logic, then JL can join OW (partner of AA, CX, etc) as well.

Good point. Actually when OW was in its infancy JL was supposed to be a member of OW but for some reason they backed out. I remember reading this on FT. Needless to say Codeshare doesnt mean ready to Join an alliance.

Why? JL seems like a natural fit for OW, especially with its close cooperation with AA & CX. This question is probably more appropriate over in the OW forum than here?!
