RTW in C with *A
 

Am going to book a RTW with either Sky Team or *A in the next few weeks.
Am Gold with KLM so will get a 100% (around that mark i think) C class bonus with them. What will i get with *A as a TG Gold?

Is there any benefits with choosing *A over Sky team?

That's a pretty open-ended question...

I don't know about TG, but the KL C-class bonus for long-haul is now only 50%, not 100%. Only intra-Europe do you still get the 100% C bonus. As a FB Gold you will also get 75% status bonus though. So total number of award miles for most of your itinerary will be 225%, while status miles will be 150%.

The main benefit for me in choosing *A over SkyTeam is the quality of (some of) the airlines. You get to fly the likes of SQ and NH on *A, whereas with ST the best you can probably do is AF or CO long-haul. It of course also depends on where you want to go: if you need a lot of flights within Asia, Canada or Latin America then *A is an easy choice over ST. In the US SkyTeam might have better choices, whereas in Europe it's probably a wash.

It also depends on what you want to use your award miles for, what your other flying patterns are, where you want to start, etc.

The airlines are better. :D

The miles you get depends on which program credited to. Some have elite bonus, and some dont. All have class of service bonus, but this can vary from stingy (eg SQ Kris Flyer 125% miles for business class) to generous.

Eg on LH Miles and More you get 200% for business class (or 225% on LH/LO/OS/UA/AC), and fixed minimum mileages within europe (up to 2500).

That itin will need to include some separate tickets for some legs as no alliance serves (at least without major backtraking) all those points.

An example itin on *A may be

DEL-SIN-DPS-SIN-SYD, separate economy ticket on Qantas or Virgin Blue SYD-OOL/BNE, BNE-AKL-NAN-AKL-HNL-LAX-LAS-LAX-DEN-MIA-CLT-NAS-CLT-WAS-MAN-FRA-DXB, separate ticket on Emirates DXB-MLE, MLE-SIN-DEL

This comes to slightly over the maximum 39k miles so would need to be tweaked (eg do SIN-BNE, separate economy ticket BNE-SYD-BNE, then BNE-AKL).

By the way, is it possible to credit miles from a RTW ticket on different FFPs?

Like, one segment on UA MP and other on LH MM and SQ KrisFlyer, depending on waht airline you're flying? Or does it not make sense?

Yes it is possible - I do that regularly (not just with RTWs). However, unless you fly a lot (say over 50k miles a year) it is probably not worthwhile diluting your benefits by spreading the miles across so many programs (especially within the same alliance).

You need to be a bit careful with this as can easily end up with miles in the wrong program, or missing out on some benefits of status because you have a lesser status FFP # recorded.
