Etihad and Star Alliance ?

Does anyone know if Etihad would be a future candidate for membership with the Alliance?

It is beginning flights via FRA to YYZ.

Why would it be?
LH's main (only?) partner in the region seems to be QR.
And Etihad may be a fine airline, but at this stage they don't even have a FFP (AFAIK at least)!

Well but so far QR is not a full partner (status miles) with LH.
Considering the boost of the middle east airlines, I could think that having a *partner there might be interesting for LH.
