Checking Luggage through to 2nd/3rd destination?
 

Hi.

Later this year i'm heading from Brisbane-Cairo-Rome-Krakow.

4 of us traveling and 3 peices of luggage. This is all on Star alliance.

I wanted to know if it is posible to check 2 peices all the way through to Krakow, so that we dont have to deal with them in Cairo and Rome.

Singapore air to cairo, then lufthansa to Rome and Krakow.

Are you stopping over or just transitting in CAI and FCO?

If just transitting then yes in theory, although may have too many sectors for baggage tags and tracking to handle (BNE-SIN-CAI-FRA-FCO-FRA-KRK). It stopping over then I am guessing probably not unless you pay to freight your bags as unaccompanied luggage - have you asked SQ?

BNE-SIN (18Hr transit) - DXB (4 or so hours) - Cairo (4 day stopover) - FRA (few hour) - Rome (3 days) - FRA (few hours) - KRK

We plan to check luggage at least to Cairo as that’s our first proper stop.

Was just wondering if it was possible to check some all the way Rome or Krakow.

Also in the next few days I’ll be posting lots of questions regarding seating advice on all segments :)

(Also hi Kiwiflyer, Hope you have been well :). I have been absent lately really concentrating on university and it looks like its paying off (more details once confirmed)).

I very much doubt you can check your luggage all the way to KRK.
First of all, as mentioned, all the flights would simply not fit on the baggage tag, the maximum is 3 or 4 flights.
I also think that they only throughcheck your luggage if you have less than a 24 hours stop at an airport (i.e. it's not an stopover) which means both the Egyptians and Italians won't be too happy having to store your luggage for four days.

I think you'd better call SQ to ask them for advice, explain your problem and hear what they say.
Sending your baggage as freight to KRK may certainly be an option.

I agree with jacob_m - ring SQ, but be prepared for needing to freight your bags.
