*A Europe-Far East award for 50,000 miles!

If you have miles in both M&M and M+, you can combine them and get the award cheaper.

Quote:

Lufthansa M&M
within Central Asia, Far East award: 30,000 miles in Eco, 45,000 in Biz.
http://portal.miles-and-more.com/cda...dia_301633.pdf

Central Asia, Far East:
China (incl. Hong Kong and Macao), Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan
Quote:

United M+
Intra-Europe award: 20,000 miles in Eco, 40,000 miles in Biz.
http://www.united.com/ual/asset/Star...d_chart_v2.pdf

Europe:
Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France,
Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldavia, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain (including the Balearics), Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Wales, Yugoslavia
---
Big disadvantages:
1, It works via Almaty only.
2, From Europe, 5 flight/week(LH). From Far East, 1 flight/week(OZ)
3, For most citizen in west countries need Kazakh VISA, if one wants to go outside the airport.

But if you have time, overland to Tashkent and take flight from there using M&M or SAS EB award.
You can do Europe-South East Asia for 50,000 miles/points if you use SAS EB award for intra-asia part.

Quote:

SAS EuroBous
within Central Asia, Far East or between Central Asia, Far East and South East Asia award: 30,000 miles in Eco, 45,000 in Biz.
http://www.scandinavian.net/EC/Appl/...253DUS,00.html

Central Asia & Far East Asia:
China (incl. Hong Kong & Macau), Japan, Kazakstan, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.

South East Asia:
Bangladesh, Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Guam, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.

hey nice find!

this is a great idea . the normal rates of LH are just ripoff

I rather pay 620 EUR to fly MUC-NRT direct in LH W and earn 8800 miles at the same time. The 50 000 miles give much more bang for the buck if used for 3 intra Europe awards. :)

Well, it depends on WHEN you use.
Air ticket price from Japan to Europe during summer season goes up to 1500 EUR + tax. During winter season, it goes down to 400 EUR + tax.
Of course, it is up to you how you use your miles/points.

By the way, according to Aeroplan Online *A Award booking system, both FRA-ALA, ALA-ICN routes are not so popular. I can find award seat almost every flight.

a W fare only earns half the miles right? so you would end up with 5699 + 25% =7123 miles.

it depends on the time, i checked prices for july and june japan to germany. prices on LH = 800euro to 1300euro.

so it was a nice hint for me. and as i having fun in visiting new cities, i dont care if i have stopover :)

LH miles give you only a bang if you are in europe. in asia there are no fly smarts.

The price is from Ltur LH last minute where I buy my LH W tickets 7 days before departure. If there is availability in W, the ticket usually shows up on Ltur. The LH mileage is from meilenrechner.de where it shows 8.798 miles for status members on return in W or S.

Sorry for getting OT. Ofcourse there are no flysmarts in asia, but asians also have no real interest in signing up for LH M&M or UA M+. The local *A programmes make more sense.

If you use Smiles (RG's FFP) miles for intra-North Asia flights,
Japan-ICN-ALA round trip costs only 20,000 miles.
Total 40,000 miles between North Asia and Europe.
