*A FFP status drops one level only if fail to requalify
Which *A FFPs drop one status level only if fail to requalify?
Lifetime membership BD Lifetime Gold OZ Platinum SA Lifetime Voyager Platinum SQ PPS Lifetime Solitaire from Sept 07 no new lifetime, existing grandfathered in UA Lifetime 1K (3 million miles) UA Million Mile Drop one level only BD Diamond Club LH/LO/LX/OS/JP/OU Miles and More NZ Airpoints (except for Gold Elite with banked extra status years) TK Drop to level earned (which could be nothing) AC Aeroplan NH SK/KF Eurobonus SQ KrisFlyer UA MileagePlus US Dividend Miles Unknown CA FM JK MS OZ SA Voyager TG ROP updated to post #28 zzz |
UA and US seem to be inconsistent about this...there's probably some internal formula that determines it which all looks like magic to outsiders.
|
Knowing UA, I think they look at the number of miles you have flown on high yield tickets during the year.
|
AC Aeroplan will drop you to the level corresponding to what you've flown in the qualification year; not just by one level. (So you could go from top to basic overnight!)
|
LH and UA also have lifetime memberships.
SK drops you to level earned, at least per programme rules, dunno if they make exceptions. |
Mrs em's TG Silver got automatically renewed without requalifying.
|
Mrs OFFlyer got Silver renewed by SK - and was not eligible for qualification (not even close). But it only happened once.
|
To clarify - not looking at comps (unless it is widespread and expected to be repeated in future) or special cases.
|
It's my understanding from colleagues that if you fail to re-qualify as a BD Silver member, they offer to 'sell' you another years Silver membership for £70.
|
SK (Norway) being nice...
I am SK *G until 31/12/04, but have failed to requalify for *G, not even *S...
But....yesterday I received my new card, and it's a Silver one :) Seems like SK is not being consistent on their policies... |

Does anyone have any info on the FFPs we are unclear on (or any corrections/changes to policy)?
|
IIRC SQ KrisFlyer drops one level.
My brother was Gold for 2 yrs and then no more biz trip. He got Silver the next year. |
OZ - (Plat = Million Mile) - lifetime
Diamond - (100,000 life time miles), used to be lifetime, but changed to 3 year membership. However, without those three years of membership, if you fly OZ or other *A flights for 50,000 miles, you retain your status for another three years. Equiv. to *G Gold - equiv. to * Silver (40,000 life time miles), same as diamond, 3 year membership, need to fly at least 25,000 miles within three years to maintain your membership. Based on the wording of the requirements and threshold levels, I think Diamond members, if they don't fly 50,000 miles in three years, they drop to Gold level. So, sort of soft landing. But then again, this is only speculation as I am only a general member (they call it silver, which sounds nice). All my * flights are credited to UA. Otherwise, I would have been way beyond Diamond :D |
