*A award questions
I am currently holding a *A F award from Washington to Bangkok using US miles. I'm flying on UA, TG, SQ, and NH. I originally had a C award, but had it upgraded to a F award. Thus far (5 days now), they haven't debited my account yet the 30,000 extra points, however they did reissue the ticket with the new routing. Any idea if that will lead to a problem for me? Will I show up to the airport in late December and have them ask me for multiple thousands of dollars? Anyone have any experiences with this?
I also am still in C on one of the legs of the trip (ORD-LAX on UA). If I can't get it to clear into F before day of departure, can I standby for F that day? Last question: I have a long layover in NRT on the return. It's about a 10 hour layover. If there is one (I don't know if there is or not), can I standby for another flight either on NH (the airline I'm currently scheduled to take) or another *A airline? |
Mileage debiting is not related to check-in.
I do not think you will find it easy to change between airlines en-route. TG has 2 flights a day, NH has only 1 (they do code share). No harm in trying but make sure you only have carry on. |
Bump - any other opinions?

For the month of Dec I think NH BKK-NRT will be 2-class service only. In addition, AFAIK, once the award travel begins, you can not change the dates nor the times for the rest of your itinerary on StarAward tix. |

DCA-ORD-LAX on UA LAX-KIX-BKK on TG BKK-SIN-NRT on SQ NRT-SFO on NH SFO-BWI on UA Right now, the ORD-LAX leg is in C as opposed to F like all the other legs. If I can't get it changed to F before takeoff, can I standby for F at the airport? Also, as of now I have a 10 hour layover in NRT. Will NH allow me to standby for the NRT-JFK or NRT-IAD flights, both of which take off much earlier than my current flight? Last question. USAir didn't debit the extra 30,000 miles out of my account when I upgraded the itinerary from a C award to a F award. Am I going to run into any problems with this? I have the paper ticket, so it would seem like I wouldn't have a problem. |
