Award Availability
Relatively new to the world, and the mileage game. I am finally going to cash in some miles when I go on Leave in May, but I was wondering the likelihood of obtaining an award. I am looking to go to Malaysia. I currently don't have the mileage to afford such a trip, but have calculated my flying schedule, and should have it by the end of 2004. But will their be awards still available? Do any of the experts know the likelihood of award availability around Memorial Day?

I take it you are looking for a UA award. You may do better to post this there. In answer to the question, if you are creative and flexible enough, you should be able to arrange travel at at the end of this year for next may.

I've also had good luck with United as long as your flexible enough. With five months of notice you shouldn't have a problem.

Depending on what ff program that you are part of. It looks like *A carriers overseas are starting to place limits on the ability of UA (and maybe US) ff members to use their miles on other *A carriers. |

I would rather look at things realistically than hope for the best. If this were the Star Alliance of 4 years ago, your reaction to such a restriction would be quite different I think. A dictator of recent hostory said once---- "A conqueror should impose its will on the conquered in installments, whenever possible." I suspect more such "restrictions" will be forthcoming. |
