What's new with SAA joing *?

Not much - it's a long process.
They've formally applied and after evaluating everything involved with the application, the * carriers will decide later in the year if they'll let SA in. (The next CEO meeting is late June - possible there will be an announcement that SA has been accepted, at that meeting.)
If it's a yes decision (as expected - they should easily meet all the qualifying criteria) then they'll be officially in anytime from 6 to 12 months after the yes decision, going on past history. 9 months is always a reasonable guideline on official join date from time of being accepted.
