Finally. US start date is upon us.

Have heard a whisper that May 04, 2004 will be the start date for US into *. From a usually reliable source and it wasn't given to me on 01 April, either !! :)
An announcement is apparently not till 15 or 16 April for some reason.

Cheers.

What will that mean for US Air Gold members? Right now I've used my US Air status to secure plus seating on UA and am accruing US Air miles while flying UA. What more will I have after May 4?

For example access to each and every *G lounge worldwide and check-in at the designated *G counters (usually Biz or First Class counters)

Is that so? As a mere gold who is not a member of the US Air Club my understanding is that I will not have lounge access unless I am flying business or first class internationally. In that case I'd of had access even without US Air belonging.

Well now I'm no US expert, but looking at the Divident Miles status levels, I'd say the following is likely:

Silver Prefered = Star Alliance Silver
Gold Prefered = Star Alliance Gold
Chairman's Preferred = Star Alliance Gold

In this case, a "mere" gold would be allowed lounge access when flying ANY Star Alliance carrier internationally (including Y class). Likely US would follow UA's lead and restrict access to domestic clubs to only pax flying international that day - to avoid crowding.

Of course this is just a guesstimation - reality may vary.

Thanks for the date heads up, Al B! :)
