Best tool for adding flights to calendar?
Hi y'all,
I just booked an ANA RTW flight that has legs on TAP, Austrian, and EVA. I wanted an easy way to add these flights to my calendar. In the past, I was able to do this by adding trips that had a united flight to my united account and then downloading from there but I couldn't find a way to do that and it seems that none of the above carriers have a way to download flights as calendar entries. Do any of you have a suggestion for the easiest way to do this? |
Flighty app
I highly recommend the Flighty app. Among other things, it very elegantly syncs flights to your device’s/cloud calendar.
AwardWallet also has this function. |

AwardWallet also has this function. We move the events if times or flights change, we make your flights as busy and any friends as free, we include airport address for ETA’s and directions, plus times with time zone labels, flight duration, seat, booking code, and a link to open the flight directly in Flighty. if any other app’s is better, I’d be shocked, and remedy that right away ;) |

Essentially, you forward your confirmation e-mails to an address (once you register), they build up a full itinerary (flights, hotels, etc.), and then you can create a link (an ICS/calendar) file that you can add to your favourite calendar app. I believe it's static (no automatic updates), and I ended up just sharing the Kayak link, which worked out well for my purpose. |

Thanks Skippy. Ya I may have gone perfectionist on our calendar sync. :)

I found FlightCal from Michael Schmid (can't include url) - it lets you type the flight number and date, and it generates an iCal file. It is quite manual, but still helpful for me.

It's pretty perfect! I even enjoy the bespoke alert chime on iOS.
Just switched it on and it added all my upcoming flights instantly :) |
