baggage allowance as *G, but crediting to different, non-Gold *A

Hello, due to TG drastically increasing miles required for redemption, it looks like I'm not the only one who is planning to switch to another program.

In the TG-forum, anaidross wrote the following:

"I think it is possible to show the physical frequent flyer card to check in and access the lounge but request the points to be clocked to another frequent flyer program. I have done this with M&M for some LH flights that do not qualify for ROP program.

Tricky could be the case when additional luggage space is needed due to Gold card benefit. What some check in counters did for me is, they first issue the boarding pass with my ROP card, get the luggage through, then reissue another boarding pass with the M&M number and cancel the first boarding pass."

I wonder what others experience with this is. I.e, crediting to one airline (e.g., TK, as that's what I'm most interested in) but wanting to use *G from another airline (e.g., TG) to get extra luggage benefits at check-in? Is this doable in general, or one will have to be really lucky?

Interested in this too, thinking of switching to MilagePlus from Aeroplan

This has been discussed multiple times. In principle it is possible, however some airlines are particularly zealous in replacing your FFP# to your *G one at check-in or at the lounge.

Watch your boarding pass like a hawk every step of the way and make sure you have a copy of it with your new FFP#, it will make it easier to prove your intention when fighting for a retrocredit.
