Star Alliance Lounge Access with Amex Platinum

Hello all,

This is the first topic I've started. I searched through flyertalk and on google for an answer, but wasn't able to find one.

I've traveled through GRU several times over the past several months, and in T3 there is a star alliance business class lounge that is actually quite decent. I've had to attempt access with Priority Pass before (and deal with the time restrictions, the shower fee, etc), but only on my last visit did I learn that I can straight up just use the Amex Platinum for entry with no time restrictions and showers included. That's a huge perk for me at GRU, and I was wondering if any other Star Alliance lounges offer a similar access policy for platinum cardholders?

For what it's worth, I was traveling on a standby staff ticket for a completely different airline. No status, no other qualifications for entry. It seems especially odd considering there is an Amex branded (subpar) lounge right across the hall that is packed, yet it seems the *A lounge is a much better option. Curious as to what your experiences and thoughts are.

Amex Centurion and Plats have conditional access to C/SEN/FCL in MUC & FRA: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luft...lounges-2.html

In this case I was traveling with a Oneworld standby staff ticket so those rules would definitely not apply. They just took the Platinum card and swiped it, just like they would at a centurion lounge, and that's all they needed for access.

Dunno if this is just a hidden perk of the Platinum, and whether I am ruining it by sharing it 😂😂

Interesting... on LoungeBuddy, it indicates:

"NOTE: Shower facilities are free for Star Alliance premium passengers and American Express Platinum, Titanium, and Elo Nanquim cardholders."

This does open up interesting questions about where else Amex Plat (solely by itself) can access.

Exactly. Not advertised on the amex site, on the star alliance site, or anywhere except that brief mention from Loungebuddy. No such verbiage exists for any other star alliance branded lounge?
