Using * Gold and Crediting to another FF program

Hi all

I am AC Star Gold and am taking part in the UA promo, is there any way I can use my * Gold benefit from AC yet credit my miles to UA?

Many thanks

Dave

What kind of benefits? Lounge access? Sure, no problem; just show them your card. E+? Keep on AC number in there until after you checked in and got your boarding pass, then ask the RCC agent to change it to the UA number for you. Can't think of what other benefits you would use if you're not flying AC.

I've done this before, and it's not a problem. The trick is to keep your *G number in the PNR until the very last possible minute (at the gate, just before getting on the plane) to benefit from the status in case of last minute op-upgrade.

But not so late that miles get credited to the wrong program. Eg if GA is too busy or doesnt change it correctly.

Very painful to get corrected later in my experience (not AC).

Edited to clarify.

Some carriers have more than one frequent traveller field. I understand that on Air New Zealand there's one field for the programme you are crediting your flights to (in your case UA), and another optional field for another frequent flyer number (i.e. the programme you have status with, in your case AC). This may not still be the case, and even if it is, it may not apply to other Star carriers.

SQ is the most seamless in having the two fields (one for its PPS program and one for the ff mileage credit).

Agree with kiwi not to leave it too late as gate agents hate to be bothered at the last minute. Also some stations around the planet cannot handle this at the gate.

Had a problem with UA once trying this approach when inbound flight was late on arrival--GA said to send in later to fix, she couldn't handle it. Took some work to undo the damage.

UA has two fields.
In JAN. I flew UA to Paris to qualify for the Promo.Gave RES. my AC SE # for status recognition and advised them, wanted the miles credited to UA #.
Both numbers were added to my res.Miles were credited to my UA account.
