Does anyone know what the booking codes for each *A carrier are which fall under the KrisFlyer "Economy", "Business" and "First" categories?

Generally, A, F, and P are First Class, C, D, and J are Business Class, and most everything else is Economy Class. There may be one or two Star Carriers with one or two exceptions to this rule, but I'm not aware of any.

What about Y & T class on LH being credited to KrisFlyer?

Here are all *A booking codes from the end of last year. The ones in bold are the award redemption codes.

*A is working towards a harmonisation of booking classes, so these will probably change shlightly over the next year.

Oh, and in answer to your question, yes, Y will accrue miles on SQ, not sure LH has a T booking class.

Thats what SQ told me... however I've got the boarding card in front of me and it says 'T'.

SQ says that they'll award me 50% of the mileage, but NOT 100% as LH have changed their policy.

However, what I want to know is how does a LH policy change affect SQ? Surely, SQ set their own rules?

When you fly one airline but collect miles in another programme, (crudely) the airline that you fly will 'supply' points to the programme that you choose to collect with. If LH chooses to provide only 50% to SQ then SQ can do little about it.

This policy is actually pervasive: NH provides 70% of miles on (I think only) discounted economy fares, SQ has eliminated several discounted economy fares ffrom earning miles altogether (regardless of what programme you collect with).

Some bilateral agreements are even more restrictive (or generous), but at the end of the day, the airline you fly with makes the rules.

That is not true, NH and AC credit only partial mileage for low eco booking classes in their program, but LH gives you full miles for the same flights.

That's why I said that bilateral agreements may be more restrictive or generous.

The accounting of miles is extremely complicated within any alliance because there is only broad-brush harmonisation. I wanted to give the original poster the general policy, without going into the excruciating detail of every *A bilateral agreement.

Doesn't UA have E as a space for special 1K eco awards ?

I think those are NY.

UA is still using XY, XC, and XF for Mileage Plus awards, but I have seen the use of the I code for business on *A partners for business on the same ticket.

I have made a booking using LH Miles with one leg on TG in F. As shown above it is with code O .

However when checking the booking in amadeus it shows this leg in economy. LH says though it is in F - how would you ensure it ?

Amadeus is not so great in working out the correct class of award travel on checkmytrip. O should be First class though, so if that's what your ticket says, you're fine!

The chart is missing KLT in eco and Z in business for LH.

O is definately TG F.
