RTW: Would this be a stopover or connection...

I need to fly HNL-LAX-SAN. My flight gets in to LAX at around 9pm. I already have a stopover at LAX, so I can't have a second one.

There is a legal connection to SAN the same night. Must I take that one, or can I take an early morning flight the next day? IF so, does it have to be the first flight in the am?

Thanks in advance.

Everything within 24 hours is not a stopover.

AFAIK, any stop < 24 hours does not count as a stopover.

I had thought that under 24 hours was only for international connections. Don't domestic connections need to be at 3 (or is it 4) hours?

rtw-tickets are international, and for any stopover only the < 24 hours rule applies.

also, with a Star-rtw-ticket, the 2 piece luggage rule (with StarGold status: 3 pieces) applies and not the weight concept - all the way.

My 2c worth is with Rudi, Hagbard V and attorney. <24hrs equals a transit.

I can only add to this to confirm, that even within the US on a StarRTW it is 24hrs - based on the two RTW I did in 2003. Have booked similar for RTWs in 2004.

A stopover is 24h max travelling with an int'l ticket - no matter what country you might have domestic routes in. This goes for rtw's as well as for any int'l ticket.

Well, glad to know this. I always thought that the 24 hours was only good when the international to domestic or dom to inter. connection is involved.

I didn't realize that domestic to domestic connections (without any international segments at all) were eligible!
