Is this a valid award routing?

I'm trying to organise an award using MX miles from MEL-NYC. Valid routings would be via LAX,SYD-SFO,AKL-LAX, AKL-HNL-Cali. Would Canada also be a valid routing? i.e. AKL-HNL-YVR-NYC?

thanks

Which frequent flyer program's miles would you use? I think this determines the rules applicable to your routing, so it might be a better idea to ask in the respective forum? If it was LH, as soon as you touch Hawaii, this would make it a 3-region award. Canada, however, is in the same zone as the US, so you could transfer there and it would not be a 3-region award. It seems like you are using UA miles, though, not sure about their rules.

It's legal if you're an Aeroplan member, but not if you're a Mileage Plus and I have no idea on Air Points, Kris, Royal Orchid, M&M etc etc.
I'm a tad rusty on this, but from memory it's because UA base trans-pac fares on specific routings and legal transfer cities, whereas AC bases their fares on the more common Mileage system.
Awaiting corrections !!!!!!

(Caveat with Aeroplan - if you use UA as part of the itinerary on a Star reward, then their routing restrictions must come into play on the whole trip, making a YVR transfer a no-no. A Star reward combo of NZ/AC on the other hand, comes under the mileage rule, so AKL-HNL-YVR-NYC is legal.)
Awaiting corrections!!

(Attorney gives good advice - best to check in the forum of your host FF scheme. They're all different).

Attorney28, I did write I'm using MX miles. I thought I may get more info in this forum as The 'other North/South American forum' seems to be pretty quiet.

I contacted MX's GSA in MEL who said to email them my request and they will forward it to MX in Mexico. I'm hoping for a booking next month, so I was pretty flexible datewise, and did mention that other routings such as via AKL, HNL, Canada would be OK too.

Sorry, I completely overlooked that (slapping myself on the head http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif).

good, AC is a perfectly valid routing with MX.

On their system they'll come up with the choice of

UA, AC and NZ.

And yes, you may be able to do

MEL-SYD (on UA), SYD-HNL-YVR-JFK

Though, award availability is very very tough on the HNL-YVR sector, very tough! (in Y at least, they have better availability in C).

You could also try

SYD-HNL (on AC) - SFO or LAX (on UA) through to JFK or EWR.
