SA over OneWorld

Posted this question earlier, but a tangential dialogue broke out and I didn't really get a direct answer. Hope I'm not violating forum protocol by asking again, but I'm a little better informed and can therefore be more specific.
Want to travel the following route:
YYZ-UIO-LAX-APW-NAN-AKL-BNB-JNB-BUD-ORY-YYZ.
United's website shows a Toronto-Quito flight via Miama, but Air Canada does not show that route, nor can they get me out of Ecuador and up to LA with any StarAlliance member. Is this so? Ironically, Air Canada priced the trip, but without actually trying to book the reservations. Is this itinerary doable? If so it will be significantly less expensive than the OneWorld fare.

thanks for your help.

If the downloadable Star Alliance Timetable is correct, Star Alliance does not fly to Quito at all.

The closest you can get to Quito on * would probably be Bogota, nonstop on MX from MEX. Whether you can find a cheap option to get from there to Quito and return to still bring the cost in under your ow quote remains to be seen!

Welcome to FT, cyence!

I assume, that you would like to buy a Round the World ticket. As RTW is a pretty tricky topicozstamps), FT made an announcement FAQ: How to buy a RWSTAR ticket? at *As forum page, which you may consider to look at.

Looking in detail on your proposed routing, I see some segments which you cannot do, because there is no *A carrier services this city pair direct. Let me bring you one example: JNB-BUD is 5.077 miles. As there is no direct service, you have to do eg. JNB-MUC-BNB: 5.215 + 363 = 5.578 miles.

Further more, I did not find BNB (Great Circle Mapper located BNB somewhere in Africa). Going from AKL to JNB would be AKL-SIN-JNB.
