Can 1st *RTW Segment be a "Surface Sector"?
I've looked at the * RTW Rules, and have a question for those who have done this before:
If I buy my *RTW ex-JNB or CPT, to get the good price, but I already have my tranportation from SA to FRA settled on a non-star carrier, can I "start" my ex-JNB RTW in FRA, calling the JNB-FRA portion a "surface segment"? The JNB-FRA miles would count towards MPM. I know this kind of thing is allowed in the middle of RTW trips, but can I start off this way? Danski |
I don't think you can consider JNB-FRA as surface sector for the first segment. You will be charged RTW fares originated in FRA.

CGK is absolutely correct. I have done STAR RTW and have studied the rules carefully. Incidentally, the LH JNB-FRA is a great service. Great food and seats in first.
