RTW Booking Classes

I've just been looking through the booking classes for Star RTWs, and I was just wondering why SK is booked in B (ie. 2nd highest class for Y), and BD is booked in W, which happens to be one of the lowest.

Anyone know why? Doesn't BD like RTWers?

Cheers,

Justin

SK's B may not be the same as UA's (for example) B class. eg: B class on OS/NG/VO is a low fare class.

Each airline decides which class to allow bookings in for their specific fare types as part of YM and to permit availability restrictions.

I do know from someone at UA that certain sectors within revenue management are not happy about B class being used for the * RTW's (note * Lite books in H, used to be W).

I'd say BD is being more canny than others in allowing access to their flights for a RTW which to them, would be a cheap, minimal income, ticket sold. UA, LH etc may not worry so much as they are likely to get a far higher percentage of a RTW fare for flying longhaul sectors.

Above all though, remember not all booking class designators mean the same thing, even in an alliance such as * or oneworld where they might look the same.

Just my 2 cents (plus GST and Ansett tax = $10.001).

Richard, I was looking at booking classes & their respective positions within all booking classes for that airline.

I don't know where B class is for UA, but on SK B is the second highest Economy booking class.

B is also the second highest booking class for the Austrian Airlines group, according to my latest info.

Cheers,

Justin

Skystar is correct that B class is the 2nd highest economy class on SK, only Y is higher.

B on UA is also 2nd.
I believe most of the * carriers have tried to standardise these. AN was due to changeover 01Oct last year. d'oh!

Perhaps OS changed - B used to be a dirt cheap class for them, but I hadn't looked for awhile.

AC = H
BD = Q
LH, NZ, RG,SK, TG (M w/in TH), UA, NH (Y w/in JPN) = B
MX = S
