STAR's 20th anniversay this year

The STAR Alliance came into being in 1997, so this is its 20th anniversary. Has anyone heard of any special promotions or events celebrating the original coming together of AC, LH, UA, SK TG and Varig?

Haven't heard anything but I don't think Varig will be part of it.

Varig was not a founding member.

Juneyao Airlines are due to join as a Connecting Partner next quarter so maybe we will hear something soon.

Are you using SK for SAS?

To be clear for everyone, the founding five were/are: Air Canada, United, Scandinavian (SAS), Lufthansa, and Thai.

SK is SAS's IATA code. Just like AC, UA, LH & TG for the other founding airlines.

Did mean SAS (SK). However, Varig did become a member before the end of 1997.

Remember the 5th anniversary promo? Fly 5 *A carriers in specific classes, and earn 55K miles?

Well, this competition is a total crap. No incentives to fly, nothing...pretty much even nothing to do with *A. I was really hoping for more.

Yes. I actually did that. If I remember correctly, I think I used LH, UA, SQ, NZ, MX to clear the promo.

When did OZ join *A? I'm a bit surprised that the only Asian/Pacific carrier in the beginning was TG.
