SQ Joins Star

Got the SQ magazine in this morning - as of April 1, SQ joins Star.

Milage in Y is 100% - on qualifying fares (from the website, X, Q, G & N are NOT qualifying); J is 125%, F is 150%.

thank you Angus.

the mileage rules credited to your ff-account differ/depend on which ff-mileage-program you use. The rules above are SQ-ff-program rules (and I believe they are the same for UA's-Mileage-Plus). LH does credit 100% bonus in business, 200% bonus in first (and that bonus counts as status too with LH).

SQ is back on track to secure its own global links, through ownership. Having covered the Atlantic through its 49% purchase of Virgin, it is back on track to be the dominant party in Air NZ, which is to control Ansett. That means SQ has Australasia and the South Pacific covered, and places the airline as the hub of a tripartite airline alliance. SQ always wants a high level of control of its "affiliates", and is worried about quality issues if it becomes only a 'bit player' within Star.
Watch whether SQ buys into Virgin's low cost Australian operation. If SQ do, then that competition will drive down the eventual price needed to be paid for a major stake in Air NZ, as a long term strategy. If SQ do not join Virgin in OZ, then SQ will likely strike soon, and will want Air NZ's Ansett subsiduary to be able to effectively fight off the low-cost Virgin airline, and provide a pax and revenue stream for the long haul SQ operations.

Brierley Investments and Singapore Airlines (SIA) are understood to have patched up their differences, making a deal with Air New Zealand likely, the New Zealand Herald reported today.
Quoting aviation sources, the paper said the framework of an agreement could be put together as soon as this week, ultimately leading to BIL selling its B shares (able to be held by foreigners) in Air New Zealand to Singapore.
This would give Singapore a 17 per cent foothold in Air New Zealand, reducing BIL's exposure to around 30 per cent. Under existing regulations SIA is allowed to own up to 25 per cent although BIL, now a Bermuda incorporated and Singapore-based company has been able to skirt the rule by setting up a front N.Z.company.
